📢 Let’s talk about Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
This afternoon the Diversity Brand Summit (DBS) will be held, the Diversity event [diversitylab.it] by Francesca Vecchioni and Gabriella Crafa, focused on the #DEI and its impacts on the business world.
✨ My journey of understanding the value of inclusive work contexts starts from 4 years in the army and runs through all the professional experiences “pre-Google”. In that period (about ten years) I had developed a “don’t ask / don’t tell” approach. I have always lived my life in a calm and transparent way, at work I didn’t talk about myself much, I didn’t feel the environment was particularly favorable: I had in fact “got used to it”
💡 The turning point came at Google: the turning point was the first company party, where a colleague brought her girlfriend. From there, a path that would lead me to become active in the D&I world, founding and coordinating the LGBTQ+ community of Google Italy (now called Pirde@Google)
❤️ I experienced the positive and liberating effect of the #authenticity on work, as well as the extraordinary #impact of authentically inclusive companies on the functioning of the organization and the social context in which they operate.
🥇 The hashtag #DEI is good for EVERYONE, as the exercise of welcoming, listening and comparing helps relationships between colleagues.
Valuing differences makes us better leaders, more open, more effective (#managergiardiniere👨🌾 is by definition inclusive)
Today at the #DBS, the data that Diversity has been developing with Focus Management for over 7 years will be confirmed: a company considered by its consumers as #rallyinclusive can sell up to 23.4% more than a company not considered as such.
In your opinion, why are the most innovative companies so attentive to inclusion policies? Because they have verified that this helps attract and retain talent.
Accepting the other means (in my opinion) accepting the ideas of the other and this favors innovative processes.
📌 Here it all comes back: 👉 ethics and business results can proceed in parallel 📈 .
In recent years one of the main topics is AI, as well as digital transformation and the cloud. As professionals and leaders, we realize that these topics are fundamental to the sustainability of our business and our own career prospects. I would like to add to that list a further factor that none of us can ignore: Diversity Equity & Inclusion.
Like all “new things”, you need to go through a personal and learning journey, coaching can help and Diversity has developed a solid and effective DE&I transformation model.
There are no excuses, you just have to decide when to start.
